A Wholistic Approach to Individuality
Each man, woman, and child, created in God’s image, is endowed with individuality, the power to think and do, Gilead Academy’s program is carefully designed to encourage the exercise and development of these powers, training thinkers, not mere reflectors of other men’s thoughts. Contemplating the great facts of duty and destiny they gain strong expansive minds. As these powers develop they learn to bear responsibilities maturing into enterprising leaders. They work with balance, poise, sound judgment, and integrity tempered with benevolent compassion and as such, positively influence character. Instead of educated weaklings they are men and women of confidence, strong to think and to act, with clearness of thought, breadth of mind, and the courage of their convictions. As torchbearers they are masters, not slaves of circumstances. These powers are indeed akin to our Creator.1

The goal of Gilead Academy’s curriculum is the development of the whole person, mental, physical and spiritual. It is to instill a deep sense of identity and purpose, thus, the stability of healthy self-respect. These firmly established produce the best government in the world, the government of self.

Many Parts to the Whole
The bedrock principle of the Academy is one of giving. To live is to give. Hence, students will become an integral part of an integrated body in ministry, using their individual gifts and talents to support and build the whole thus being a blessing to themselves and the world at large.

One writer put it this way.
“To everyone is committed some special endowment for which He will be held responsible by the Lord. Time reason, means, strength, mental powers, tenderness of heart. All are gifts from God, entrusted to be used in the great work of blessing humanity.2

The following gives even greater clarity to our objectives.

The Essence of True Leadership
“Jesus said, ‘Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority over them. But so shall it not be among you.’ The people were supposed to exist for the benefit of the ruling classes. Influence, wealth, education were so many means of gaining control of the masses for the use of the leaders.

“The higher classes were to think, decide and enjoy, and rule; the lower were to obey and serve. Religion, like all things else, was a matter of authority. The people were expected to believe and practice as their superior directed. The right of man as man, to think and act for himself, was wholly unrecognized.

“Christ was establishing a kingdom on different principles. He called men, not to authority, but to service, the strong to bear the infirmities of the weak. Power, position, talent, education place their possessor under the greater obligation to serve his fellows.”3
